Anybody who appreciates a decent pint should make their way to the Dog and Bell in Prince Street. St Paul's Church (1730)is the finest example of English Baroque. Every admiral from Henry VIII to Victoria will have worshipped at St Nicholas Church. Food from all over the world in the shops etc.

Hi Bill, Yes - it suddenly erupted, didn't it? I read it on publication too, after Benji posted a link on Twitter. Then suddenly the story seemed to escalate bizarrely (and unfairly) in the UK press and that's when I had to add my two penneth.

As a Deptford resident, what's your take? Would you advise (certain types of) overseas visitors to swing by your way?

Vicky

Vicky

Interesting take on the story.

Many of us in Deptford are bemused at the way in which a story in the NYT on March 22 took several weeks to reach the English nationals. I, and other locals, read the NYT piece on the day, two or three local bloggers mentioned it and after a couple of weeks one of the local papers, The Newsshopper picked it up. The nationals only picked it up from the Newsshopper and not the NYT.
